Mike and Sons eggs? - Pasadena Farmer's Market

thursday Mar 18, 2011 11:16 AM

Just discovered this egg vendor last week (I think they've been selling there a while - I'm just new to that market) and was excited to find less expensive hormone-free, vegetarian-fed eggs...only to get home and see that no where on the packaging does it say anything about being cage free, humanely raised, or the like. The eggs were so fresh that I'd be willing to buy them every week, but so inexpensive that I got nervous... Does anyone know anything about this vendor and if they use battery cages?

I do not know if they use cages, etc., but I have been buying their eggs for years and they are very good. I am sure if you ask them, they will be honest. It has been the same guy selling them every time I have been there.

      How much are the eggs?

        $2.50 a dozen.

Their farm is in Ontario on 2-acres of land and they say they are cage-free, but they definitely aren't pasture-fed. They have a sign up at the Pasadena Farmers market that says "grain-fed" but I never inquired if that included any soy-product.
