Need a new Special Occasion Dinner spot- Farmington Valley/ Hartford area

For a long time it was Metro Bis, then along came Mill a 2T and now I am looking for a new spot.

We still visit both but they are no longer special occasion and more like every so often so I am looking for somwhere different to take my husband for his birthday.
We will not drive more than 45 minutes from SImsbury. Thanks!

I have lived in Western Mass for 8 years and just recently discovered Simsbury. We love it! I didn't know about Metro Bis so I just had a look at their menu and it looks awesome! You might not learn anything from me, but I've definitely learned something from you. The only semi-upscale place I have been to in W. Hartford is Besito.

We have and like it very much.

A friend at work suggested The Federal in Agawam. I think we may try it.

I am a big fan of Fleming's in West Hartford, yeah they're a steakhouse but the wine list is outstanding and the service is wonderful, especially if you celebrating a special occasion.

A friend of mine dined at the Federal recently and raved about it!

Speaking of steakhouses, Morton's inHartford also has top notch service and I like it a little better than Flemings. Surprisingly, some of their non steak entrees such as salmon are very well executed and their shrimp cocktail is IMO the best anywhere.

I have an allergy to mushrooms, including truffles, and was told my On20 last year that they could not guarantee my food would not come in contact with them. They will not mke my list.

Apricots in Farmington. Some say it's old and tired but I was there a few weeks ago after a long absence and really liked it.

Carmen Anthony inAvon. Not in the 2T or Metro Bis class in terms of food buy it's solid and definitely has a "special occasion" feel.

Season's in Avon. Actually now called Farm or Ferme. Live piano......farm to table place....
