Dessert/cordials near Villa Florence in Union Square?

My hubby and I are arriving in SF late on Friday (after 10pm) and we need a recommendation to get an after dinner drink and possibly dessert. Is Kuleto in the lobby good or is there another more interesting spot within walking distance of Villa Florence? We are not really looking for an uber trendy spot where we'd have to stand in line for 2 hours. But a place that is unique and has history or character would be ideal. Thanks!

Not much danger of having to stand in line after 10pm, you're lucky to find places that are open. After 11, the only good place still open that fits the request might be Scala's Bistro. There are lots of ethnic places open later, like Katana-Ya and Naan 'n' Curry.

Haven't been to Kuleto's for awhile but it used to be OK and, if you're staying at Villa Florence, it is the most convenient. Up the street in the St Francis is the new Michael Mina restaurant, Bourbon Steak, that might be kind of fun. I'm sure they'd serve you a dessert at their bar. Clock Bar is also in the St Francis but they don't have desserts. Scala's Bistro in the Sir Francis Drake has a small bar area and it is always lively. Those are all that come to my mind in that area at the moment.
