private dining on the beach?

Got my 5 yr anniversary coming up and wanted to do something memorable, not just another restaurant meal - currently have a reservation at DB Bistro Moderne.

Does anyone now of any hotels or restaurants that offer private dining on the beach? I know most beaches are public around here (Fort Lauderdale), but going to the Keys for dinner isn't going to go down well with the babysitter.

Only place i have found so far is Aqualina in Sunny Isles, but they never replied to my enquiry, so not overly impressed, and i don't think it is actually on the sand.

Any ideas?

  1. Check with the Trump Sunny Isles. I know they've done it before for Valentine's Day dinners.

      Thanks Frod.
Emailed them, and got a read receipt that shows they deleted my email without even reading it.
Pretty shocking customer service from both hotels so far. Maybe business is picking up and feel they don't need to worry.

That sounds like it may have been picked off by a spam filter or something. I'd give it another shot or look for a phone #.

          Got a reply from Acqualina:

"We offer to our residents and guests the Private Dinner on the Beach. It is a romantic dinner with a very nice set up, candles and a server for you all the time.

There is a special menu from Il Mulino New York – Italian food

          Prices are as follows:

Dinner is $ 100.00 per person plus taxes, plus drinks and gratuity.

At time of reservation there will be a non-refundable set up fee of $95.00 plus 9% sales tax and 21% service charge.

Unfortunately March 26th is already reserved.

    2. A few years ago a friend had a birthday dinner for 8 in the sand /waterfront at the Mandarin Oriental downtown. We had a big bed type set-up, but I know they also offered a table. Not ocean front, but it was very pretty and romantic surrounded by the city lights and the water.. I can't recall the food at all.

          Reply from Mandarin Oriental:

          "Dear Mr Magee,

Please kindly note below are the packages we offer for the private dinner services. Please feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns. I will email you shortly with Saturday March 26th beach availability.

1 $350.00 for the beach rental from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm that's include personal server for the entire dinner, however our beach remains open for our guest until 8:00pm afterward only for the dinner guest. There is minimum F&B spending condition on this package which is $150 per person before taxes and up to maximum four guests. If the party is more than 4 guests than Banquets Department will handle the function. We do charge 20% service charge which are standard on IRD orders and there is a sales tax on beach rental and food which is 9%. There is also a $350 non refundable deposit / cancellation fee.

In case of inclement weather we offer our guest to complete their function either in their room (if they are staying with us) or in one of our restaurant except Sunday Azul is closed. We offer them both of our restaurant menus to pick from.

2 $550.00 that bottle of house champagne, beach rental and personal server. No F&B spending condition. rest are the same. We cannot confirm the booking prior one week of the function. Thank you and let me know if you have any question.

          Best Regards"

Sounds fabulous, and they were very nice on the phone.
Sadly, as much as I love my wife and want to do something special and romantic, I can't justify spending $800 odd on a single dinner. Could fly to Vegas or New York and have a 5 star dinner for not much more than that.

      2. Not sure how far you want to go, but the Ritz Carlton in Manalapan offers it as well....maybe the one in Fort Lauderdale does? I would check the other beachfront hotel properties where you are located.

Thanks for the tip. The one if Fort Lauderdale is not actually on the beach, so don't think that will work. Had a look at the one in Manalapan - $250 per person, not including drinks, tax or tip is a bit steep for me!

Yeah, it was for me too when I had considered!

I was wondering if you ever found private dining on the beach for a reasonable price. It seems like Aqualina and Key West was the only locations that offer it. Unfortunately, like yourself we have children and cannot leave for an extended period.

              1. re: romekix

Did not find somewhere with what I would consider a reasonable price. The Trump did come back to me eventually and say they could do it, but it was too late by then and to be honest I wasn't sure I would be getting a great meal there. Ended up at DB Bistro and thought it sucked.

          2. You might try B Ocean.

I know that they will bring drinks, etc out to the beach area for you (no extra cost). They have a little seating area that is specifically for this. And Saia is fairly decent.

Plus they are trying to tout the fact that they have a Hell's kitchen chef there (not at Saia, though?) - I would be that they would do something special for not a lot of $$$.

The only downside is that it's a pretty busy area - may/may not be very romantic....
