this Friday morning/afternoon - Place to watch the NCAA and get good food

  • 6

Hey,

Will be in town from NYC. Looking for a good place to watch the NCAA tourney and get some good food. Preferably seafood. A fun sports bar with a raw bar would be great.

Staying on 6th ave and union st at the Sheraton. Anything within a 15-20 min walk is fine.

would much rather go to a local joint than a chain.

Ivan's Acre's of Clams turns out on a search on yelp. Any good? good TV set up?

  1. Don't go to Acre's of Clams, you can do better.
Fox Sports Grill or Spitfire would be better calls as sports bars. Although neither are standouts.

I'm having a hard time coming up with a good intersection of sports and seafood...

    1. Not an easy request. Most of the downtown places are food without TV places. Fox Sports Grill and the Taphouse Grill both have many TVs and would be showing the games, but aren't worthy of eating at. Palamino's bar may have TVs.

      1. You would probably be better off taking a free bus down to the Pioneer Square neighborhood. There's Pubs a'Plenty down that way. Does anyone know if Collins Pub has TVs? I know Elysian Fields does.

Collins has a few TV's and some good beer... the food is hit or miss (surprisingly, the veggie burger is your best bet).

thanks for the replies everyone. I'll look into Collins pub.

We're actually headed to the Elysian tonight, so I'll be able to scope it out!

        2. I'm a little late on this, but Auto Battery on Cap hill is pretty good. It gets a little fratty in the late evening, but they serve next door's Po-dogs, decent, reasonably priced drinks and is a nice place.
