Best Desserts - New Orleans

Making my 6th trip to New Orleans since Feb. '10. This trip I would love to discover the best desserts the town has to offer. Emeril's Banana Cream Pie is an obvious choice & one of my favorites. Any other's worth going out of the way for?

second the brown butter banana tart at herbsaint, and a vote for Mat and Naddie's paneed white chocolate bread pudding. Way better than bread pudding souffle at Commanders's

I like the gelato at La Divinia and Angelo Brocato better. Also, cannolis and fig cookies and lemon ice (or peach ice or blood orange ice) at Brocato's too. Mmm.

Bread Pudding at Luke with the ice cream on top at least deserves a mention. Bread pudding has supplanted cheesecake as my wife's favorite dessert.

I KNOW my wife's answer: Stella!'s Dessert Grilled Cheese Sandwich...She came close to nominating it for her best dish, ever, in New Orleans but had to hand that to Chef Brigtsen's Pork Tenderloin with Debris Sauce.

For me, it's Commander's Palace's bread pudding souffle...but I'm not the sweet-tooth that my dear wife is!

White chocolate bread pudding at Palace Cafe and Crepes Fitzgerald at Brennan's. Also love the bread pudding souffle at CP.

Emeril's banana cream pie, August's nougatine w/salted caramel ice cream, Coquettes goat cheese mousse w/ lavender honey and figs (sometimes blueberries). I'm also a sucker for a Le Foret souffle.

I am a fan of Brennan's Bananas Foster, and order it often, though not really a dessert-person.

I am less a fan of CP's Bread Pudding Souffle, but that is just me.

You know, we absolutely MUST fit Bon Ton into the next trip. It's been over 20 years for me, and I think that my wife has only been once more in that time. We used to dine there fairly often, when we lived in NOLA, and wife did a dinner about every two months with business associates. We loved it, but it kind of fell off the "radar screen," and we've just not taken the time to go back. I will try to rectify that next trip, especially if I can sneak my wife into town, with no familial duties!

I had a great bread pudding at Mandina's recently. Not as leaden as some in town. Really an excellent ending to a great meal.
