King Crab to eat there?

I know that it should be king crab season still, at least I'm hoping... My research says I should be right ;) My boyfriend and I are coming to Vancouver for a long weekend and I would LOVE to get my hands on some fresh king crab. It's his first trip to Canada, though I've been to Vancouver before. Since we are staying in a hotel, buying crab at the asian markets mentioned in other posts and cooking it myself is not practical. I would like to find a good, cheap place to get elbow deep in crab! Any ideas?

and in case someone has some more suggestions you'd like to throw in, please let me know. we will be staying down on Robson for 4 days (with a car). I've scoured these boards and have compiled a list of possibles including the "ramen district", crystal mall, and guu with garlic... any non-asian cheap eats that arent too far out? I'd like a bit of variety, but understand chinese/japanese is going to be predominant in the area. we'd like to do happy hour at least one day.

  1. If you want to stay downtown, Kirin on Alberni (close to the Robson hotel zone) is your best bet. I suggest going to Richmond. Very easy by skytrain. Just off Aberdeen Station is Red Star and Sea Harbour....not "cheap", but good. Just off Lansdowne is Kirin (Richmond) and Sun Sui Wah (the place that really started this whole King Crab phenomenon here).

    Tonight we had King Crab at Bing Sheng in the East side (Renfrew and 1st Ave). It was very good. Three ways (the usual: steamed with garlic, fried knuckles in salt & pepper, and "Portuguese" rice.). Make sure to order a Vegetable dish too - like steamed gailan or something. (We also had a nice tableside sliced Peking Duck):
