Does crawfish season matter here in LA?

Just wondering now that we're hitting crawfish season if anyone good ones actually make it to LA. I've never enjoyed the mud bugs at Boiling Crab or The Shack but I've also never gone there while in season. Does anyone know if they get good sized ones over these next few months? thanks

  1. The only good ones I've ever had in THIS LA were flown in for a private party. Next best were at Rajin' Cajun in Hermosa but they were pretty small.

Just a note that Ragin Cajun in Hermosa lost their lease and closed this January and will reopen in El Segundo at Plaza El Segundo on Sepulveda Blvd. (near Whole Foods) in April.

I suggest you have them shipped here to LA and boil them yourself. It really isn't all that expensive or that hard. You just need the tools, i.e., outdoor boiler. They are shipped over night with seasoning.

      2. New Orleans Fish Market on Arlington & Verno, I think that is the name. They get them fresh every week, you just need to call and order them for you fresh, otherwise they cook the ones they get.
