Best coffee shops around Logan Square in Philadelphia

rg231763 Mar 15, 2011 06:57 AM

I just moved to the area and am looking for a nice, chill coffee shop in or around Logan Square. I'm not picky about my coffee but I'm looking more for a good ambiance (good place to read and/or study). Any thoughts? Thanks!

You can look here for some ideas. I don't think Logan Square/Fairmount has a hopping cafe culture though.

La Columbe Torrefaction is one of the best coffee roasters in the area. I recommend going at off times to get that relaxed vibe you're going for. 19th and Rittenhouse.

Nook at 20th & Ludlow is decent, if that's not too far. They have couches. I'm not familiar with what is around on the other side of Logan Square.

i like nook- there arent many tables tho so its not really ideal for studying. but you can always curl up on the couch with a book if you like that (if i study on a couch ill fall asleep, but others can do it)

nook has delicious baked goods- i think their scones are amazing and i have to order one (chocolate chip) if im passing by...which is often.

it is kinda pricey- espresso drinks arent bad. not the best, but barryg is right- fairmount doesnt have a great cafe culture

if you want to wander around the city in search of coffee, you should def do so- it would be a good way to get to know the city since you just moved here
