Anyone else making Irish Potato Candies for St. Patty's day?

  • 1

I think this must be a Philadelphia thing, but I remember growing up I'd get so excited for St. Patrick's Day to roll around and for the stores to sell Irish Potatoes. No, there are no potatoes in Irish Potatoes. What there is is cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and coconut rolled into little balls and then rolled in cinnamon so that it LOOKS like a potato. They are heavenly. And I actually have a distinct memory of being in Kindergarten or first grade (guess its not that distinct of a memory) and sitting on the classroom floor and trying them for the first time.
Anyway, now that I live in Baltimore I'm making my own and taking them to my son's preschool class on Thursday. I hope to start a new tradition here. Anyone else?
