Truffle Butter in Houston?

Does anybody know where I can find Black Truffle Butter in Houston? I know I can order them online at D'Artagnan, but would prefer to just buy it locally if possible. Central Market has truffles, but I didn't see truffle butter. Any ideas?

  1. Spec's (Smith St. location deli) has Cucina Viva Black Truffle Butter listed on their inventory - which doesn't necessarily mean it will be in stock so you might want to call if it's a long drive.

Look under Browse the Store, Food, then Cheese, Not Weighed (site doesn't allow a direct link to the page).

    1. Why not make your own truffle butter with Central Market's truffles?

I never even thought of attempting to make it, but I don't totally trust myself so I'd rather just stick with store bought my first round

From what I understand, it's really simple. Just take some good quality, softened butter, and mix it with a minced truffle or two. Saveur has a good recipe that uses madiera.

      2. Central Market and Spec's carry it in the cheese department.

I am not a big fan of the truffles at CM, by the way. They are always bland - not sure why.

        1. Whole Foods has white and/or black truffle butter. I always have one of the 3.5oz "tublets" in my freezer just for when I feel like it. Pricy (maybe $8-49), but excellent for a last minute pasta or some scrambled eggs.

          1. They have it at the Whole Foods on Kirby regularly and I saw it at the Costco on Richmond recently, not sure if it is still there, but it was the same brand as at Whole Foods for a better price, though it was a pack with one container of black, one white.
