Quick Lunch in Pittsburgh

Hello all,

Me and a few friends are driving down to Tennesse (aiming for one straight) from Toronto and figure Pittsburgh is close enough to half way to stop for lunch. Basically I am hoping to find something easy to get to from what ever interstate leading into the city, for a fair price, but hopefully something creative, fun, or just plain tasty.

Thanks for any advice!

Toronto to Tennessee, yeah, gotta be I-79. Now Pittsburgh city proper is about a 15 mile total detour so really you're looking for something along 79 or within a couple miles of it I guess. So, let's see, good things right off the interstate that I'm most familiar with:

Bella Frutteto is good, right off the highway, probably not that quick necessarily: http://www.bellafrutteto.com/ Ditto Andora http://north.andorarestaurant.com/ You might find these pricey for a lunch.

Mad Mex in Cranberry would be fun, within 2 miles of the highway. Expect not authentic at all Mexican, just quasi-Mexican concoctions. Still a table service restaurant but usually pretty quick http://madmex.com/regions/pittsburgh/menus/mainmenu.shtml

Also in Cranberry is a decent Indian place that has a lunch buffet, less than a mile from the highway: http://www.tamarindpa.com/foi/index.s...

If you want detailed directions to one of these I can do that. Good luck. I drove just from here to Tennessee and that was bad enough (though it was raining pretty heavily most of the time, that didn't help).

      Thanks for the recs!

It is a fair drive, and the day after we drive down to New Orleans.

Pittsburgh is a fair bit further off the I79 then I thought, so really any rec's along the 79 would be great! As it stands though Bella Frutteto or Mad Mex would likely be where we end up.

      Thanks again!

Restaurant Echo in Cranberry just off on RT 228 about 300 yards from I79 but it is more expensive dining. www.restaurantecho.com
There is a place near there Siba Cucina that I hear is Ok but have not been to. Check the website. www.siba-Cucina.com

Maybe someone can help with restaurants in the Sewickley area. That is just a few miles farther south on I79 and about 5 minutes from the interstate.

Oh yea, Andora on Mt Nebo road just north of Sewickley is pretty good and less than one mile from I79 but not fast. www.andorarestaurant.com

Just thought of a couple that will be quick. Get off the Bridgeville exit, turn right, left at the light on to Washington Av. go about 400 yards.meters on the right is Burghs's Pizza and Wing Pub - I like the sandwiches - popular with families bring a quarter for the parking meter. Park in the lot next to Burgh's www.bpwp.net or go another 100 yards on the left is Sauce- cook in skillets. good burgers and some ok food www.saucepgh.com

Or go one more exit to Southpointe...I think the exit sign calls it South Heights, turn right and go to Los Chiludos Mexican...real good Mexican www.loschiludos.com it is about 1 mile from I79.

Just don't go around dinner time they will be busy.
