Z Cafe, Oakland

A group of us had a pre-service meal at Z Cafe (across the street from Temple Sinai) in Oakland.
I hadn't eaten here since a long ago lunch in the previous incarnation as Cararra's. I'm not sure if the fact that it no longer shares the space with a car dealership is an improvement or not, but it's a pleasant enough space with the original tile floors and woodwork and big picture windows.
On a Friday night it seemed to be catering to the pre-Temple crowd, but from the list of cocktails, it might be fun for happy hour. I had the pear "martini" and my friend shared her ginger martini, and both were delicious.
Everyone seemed happy with their food and the prices were reasonable. I had the lamb shank over a mound of mashed potatoes and it was nothing fancy but it was delicious.
Anyone else have any recent experiences here?

It's funny that you posted this, Ruth, as I've been wondering if there had been any improvement on their food (tried it post-Carrera's and wasn't impressed). I've noticed that it always seems reasonably busy there before services at the Temple and keep having the passing thought that I should give them another shot. Delicious definitely interests me more than fancy, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your dinner.
Last year Temple Sinai had Z Cafe cater a Passover community dinner there and it was no more than serviceable, and they are using them again for this year's dinner. My expectations for catered food in that sort of setting are never high though, so they didn't disappoint (how's that for damning with faint praise?).
