Excellent casual restaurants near Warwick Hotel or upper West side

We'll be in Manhattan March 20-23 staying at the Warwick and would like walking-distance suggestions for dinners (or lunch). Northern Italian, American contemporary, French Bistro type. One night will be Il Tinnello we already know. suggestions?

By "casual," how much were you thinking of spending? There are several good restaurants right in the immediate neighborhood that meet your requirements as far as food type, but they are not particularly cheap. I would suggest Benoit (60 W. 55th) for the French bistro and Bistro Milano (1350 6th Ave., entrance on 55th) for Italian. Both are very satisfying food-wise.
