Japanese Food Stuffs: where to buy?

I haven't cooked Japanese in ages. With Kotobukiya gone and Yoshinoya long gone- where is the best place to buy food stuffs from Japan?

it's a little pricey and the selection is small but there is also the cherry mart on newbury street

I recently stopped by, I wouldn't go out of my way to shop there, let's say.

I'm with you on the driving, and have mainly hitched a ride with others going that way. But if you must, Medford Sq is serviced by a number of bus lines, and there is in fact a bus stop almost right across the street from the store. I don't know which route it is off the top of my head, but if you plugged the address into the T website, I bet it would tell you.

There is no place in Cambridge.. hit up Ebisuya. Perhaps you could find some decent stuff at H-Mart in Burlington, if you could make it out that way. Maybe Reliable in Somerville?

One of my friends just posted on fb that a Japanese mkt is going to open near Porter Sq. -
A few blocks up Mass Ave (outbound, west-ish). Just past the Porter Square Post Office.

It's in the old Spark Studios/used book store spot at the corner. It will be called "Miso Market," according to the hand-lettered sign in the window. It's a big sunny space - looking forward to it!

As a side note, Bob Slate in the same block is going out of business (all three outlets will close). Bumma.
