Thanks for the rec last month, Khuezee. Tonight my honey and I went to Amber Waves (the restaurant at the Knott's Berry Farm Hotel) for the All-You-Can-Eat Prime Rib and Crab Leg Buffet. It's every Friday and Saturday night from 5p-9p.

I started with a slice of prime rib, an end cut. Is there a way to get an end cut that isn't well done and dry? I left most of it untouched. Bummer.

But, I soon recovered. I had a ton of crab legs. They are good sized. Not bad. Totally worth $18.95! We will go back. A tip for those of you who get frustrated with crab legs: bring an exacto knife to cut down the length of the leg. I don't care if you think its tacky to bring your own utensils.

They have a few sides which looked pretty unappetizing in their sweaty chaffing dishes, but who needs sides when there are serve-yourself crab legs?

One last thing: I always use the apostrophe wrong with "its." Forgive me.

The end cut of the prime rib is virtually always well-done. It's the cut people who like well-done meat order. So if you like your PR pink and juicy, specify it that way.

As for cutting the crab legs, a pair of Fiskars scissors works very well. When you get home they can go into the dishwasher or be washed by hand.

Laughing out loud!

They are good-sized KING crab legs AND claws! They're not fabulous but they are pretty good. Definitely worth it.

The other diners must have all been out of towners staying at the Knott's hotel. I heard a cowboy boot-wearing, handle-bar moustached gentleman proclaim that the place would go out of business if the locals knew about it. And I heard another guy bitch that the legs were too spiny.

I chuckle to myself and plan my next attack...
