Park Shore in Naples

We're staying at a lovely pool home in Park Shore for the second year in a row this April. Last year's dining choices were a bit hit and miss - we didn't do enough research! We really like to walk or ride bikes when possible, but of course, will definitely drive out some nights.

We ate at Bricktop, Brio's, D'Amico, Island Pub, Flacco's, Mangrove Cafe, and The Dock last year. While visiting my folks in Naples in past years, we've eaten at Ridgway, Tommy Bahama, Yabba Island Grill, Mangrove Cafe (I heard there was a terrible fire there...), Campiello's and others.

We'd like to go to the Turtle Club one night, maybe for apps and drinks (do you need a reservation to eat at the bar?). Also, thinking of trying Escargot 41 for some fine French dining (or would we be better off at Bleu Provence or Bamboo Cafe?) My husband does not like Indian food, so I am guessing the Bha Bha would not be his cup of tea - although I would love to try it.

Any other thoughts for that neighborhood? Although I shopped in Venetian Village last year, we didn't eat there - but I see there are several restaurants. A friend mentioned Cibao Grill on Neapolitan Way, has anyone tried it?

We really like to keep things casual and fun on vacation, nothing too formal. Esp. if we are on bikes or foot!

Thanks in advance for your help...

DO try Alexander's ...right in your area on US 41...ALSO: YES, eat at Escargot 41...one of our main reviewers (insatiable appetite) loves this place and has eaten there many times...top notch French cooking there!

Val, just looked up Alexander's...I don't know how we missed that on our last trip. The menu looks right up our alley. Thanks for the recommendation. And yes, we have Escargot 41 on our list.

Naples has some deliciously unique places! Val, RevrendAndy, Zeits, and/or I have tasted them, and also plenty of not so great places, to know the difference.

I love Escargot 41 for French, and for seafood USS Nemo is a funky spot. Turtle Club is best on a barefoot day!

You must dine at Inca's Kitchen for the best Peruvian, especially if you've never had it. Cibao has delicious Caribbean food, and Sweet Mamas has great Trinidadian and Caribbean food. IM Tapas for Spanish, Sea Salt for light Mediterranean and people watching, Bites at the Ritz for small plates and great entertainment, Charlie Chiang's for innovative Chinese-try the slippery shrimp and ribs, KC American Bistro for good American cuisines, Martin Fierro for Argentinean cuisine, Eurasia for great Vietnamese and Italian, oh the list goes on and on!
Bha! Bha! is a favorite, and Persian food is delicate, and unlike most Indian foods.

I second the rec for Bha! Bha!; it's nothing like Indian food. It's cuisine probably has more in common with that of Lebanon and Turkey; lots of grilled meats, herbs, nuts, yogurt, and fruits. Really, really good. And I agree: don't miss Inca's Kitchen; the rotisserie chicken there is wonderful and the french fries are literally to die for - irresistible. Reasonably priced, too.

As for French, Escargot 41 is my favorite - small, intimate, and very French - you walk in from a strip-mall parking lot into another world! Call for reservations. Blue Provence is also excellent, and Bamboo is very good and much more informal.

i think everyone should try Alexander's--it looks great on the menu and the chef has a book on display but i was disappointed (only one time dining there).
M Waterfront Grill in Venetian Village sounds like something you'd like based on your previous choices. never heard a bad thing about the place.
my favorite bistro is Bricktop's at Waterside (although many prefer Brio just across the way). i think the food and service at Bricktop's is superior but a more limited menu.
Preston's for Steak or anything there.
i second Insatiable's suggestions, esp Inca's Kitchen--this is something you will not experience at most places, even big cities.
i'm just going to throw this out but someone i work with has this thing for "Lindberger's" on 41 close to downtown--i think it has new owners but he tells me that the hamburgers are fantastic...

Zeits and Insatiable, thanks for your replies. FYI. Last year, we enjoyed sitting at the bar at Bricktop, had a good meal and a super bartender serving us. Our food at Brio was good - but our service was horrible. They ended up giving us a free round of drinks and dessert (neither of which we asked for, but the gesture was nice.) Our server basically disappeared!
