Venue for 150 south of Bloor

I'm looking to book a venue for a work event on a week night. The following is our criteria:

- 150 people
- TTC easy (can be streetcar or subway like)
- South of Bloor
- Drinks and finger food
- Pool tables
- Some sort of dance space
- Reasonable price on bar rail and domestic beer

At the moment we are looking at the Charlotte Room. Any other suggestions? I'm really coming up empty on this one.

Thank in advance,
JB

  1. I was thinking Charlotte Room too but see you already thought of it... I haven't been myself but saw it featured on a deal site so read up about it at that time.

I went for a friend's b-day party at Andy Pool Hall a few years back, didn't have any food so can't comment on that but should meet your other criteria. Please post back on what you pick and how it went!

Andy's is a good idea! I will give them a call.

    2. ... The Raq? Not sure on size though.

When I first saw the question, I was like, "JennaBean would kno- oh.."

I know! Usually the events I plan do not involve pools tables and reasonable bar rail. This is proving to be a big challenge!

The last time I did an event that required a pool table we headed to the Academy of Spherical Arts and while a great venue not at our price point this time around.

      2. So no go for any of the suggestions provided today. The search continues.

before i get into suggestions, what was wrong with andy or raq and waq or charlotte room?

          1. re: pinstripeprincess

Andy's was a little too low-brow for folks. They hosted the event at Raq two years ago and it didn't go well. Charlotte Room is still on the list but it is likely too small as now we are sitting around 200 people and the max there is 180 and IMO a squishy 180.

I wasn't sure about that but a couple of google results suggest they do. Obviously they would have to confirm: :-)

They removed their pool tables! Bummer b/c this would have been a great location for us.

I was thinking the same - it's a classy space. Too bad :( I am not very knowledgeable of places with pool tables...

            3. How about C'est What? I think it fits all your criteria. Or maybe Spacco?

I have a call into C'est What. I'm waiting for them to get back to me. I will now look into Spacco and Easy & the Fifth.

I just googled Spacco it is far too north of our group but thank you for the suggestion.

I feel like I'm on the verge of admitting defeat. C'est What can't take a group our size on the night we're looking at due to a live music commitment.

Is Sneaky Dee's too lowbrow? The Riv?

I actually just put a call into the Riv. Well Sneaky Dee's is one of my go-to dive location, it would be a bit too much for this crowd.

Sounds like you're having a string of bad luck! The Madison has a couple of pool tables. It's slightly north of Bloor, but it could work for your function.
