Levin Bakery Sticky Buns

As I was planning my next trip to NYC, I was wondering if it is worth it to plan to go on a weekend so that I could go to Levin to get one of their sticky buns. Are they worth it? Also, I want to take the subway after church from 34th st. and go to Levin Bakery and get something to eat for lunch and get back down to the theater district for a 3 pm show. Is there any good place nearby the bakery or the theater district that has good fast service on a Sunday. I was thinking of maybe the buffet at the thai place called Earthen Oven. Thanks for any advice.

Probably not convenient for you, but thought I'd mention that Levain just opened another branch in Harlem at 116th and Frederick Douglass. They have the same sticky buns on the weekends and do not sell out! Apparently us Harlemites haven't caught on to the sticky bun awesomeness yet. The owner also said we could call ahead and they would save one for us, wonder if they'd do the same thing down at 74th Street... (might as well try!)

Well, I CAN report that, when I wanted to serve Levain cookies at my Oscar party a couple of weeks ago, I called the bakery and they put my order together. It was ready for pickup when I stopped in a few hours later. I would imagine, then, that they'd do the same for sticky buns.

Bouchon and Amy's both have excellent sticky buns all week long.

If Indian isn't up your alley, Grand Sichuan serves great Chinese around the corner from Earthen Oven. The UWS is actually full of lots of options for a good post-service meal.

The sticky buns are good, very good in fact. Are they worth the trip or arranging your plan... open question. Know too, they are gone quickly after the door opens and then gone for the day so after church would not work.
A zillion options for good food that is fast near the theater district. As it happens, 9th Ave in the 50s is like little Bangkok, board faves are Wondee Thai and Pam Real Thai. FYI Earthen Oven is Indian
