Freedmen's Bar behind Cuatro's?

We saw a TABC permit request pasted on one of the windows of the building. It's old, two stories tall, and right behind Cuatro's on San Gabriel. Does anybody have the inside scoop? I'd really appreciate even a rumor.

DanSL, you were correct when you posted. Freedmen's was on hold due to the outrageous choke on permitting turnarounds in the City of Austin (write your councilmember!) but we are back on track, slated for a September opening. We have baller mixologists, and a killer chef scheming on our BBQ-centric culinary delights. We can't wait. Check in on us in September, and come grab a cold one at Cuatro's in the meantime. Thrilled to host you at Freedmen's --- wishing you the best until then!!!!
