Chopped liver and gefilte fish

I'm doing a seder for 18 and want to buy chopped liver and gefilte fish. Jarred is okay for the gefilte fish, but if there's a local place that does it well, that's even better. I moved to town a few months ago from the East Coast and fear I might be S.O.L. for decent Jewish food. Suggestions?

    1. when goldberg's deli in factoria mall first opened as seattle's only jewish deli, i was hugely disappointed in how bad everything was BUT quite surprised at the quality of the house-made gefilte fish - some years have passed so no guarantees - i can, however, recommend the chopped liver from i love new york deli (u district or pike place market) - he uses chicken livers and ample shmaltz a little hint: if you used jarred/canned fish, cook some sliced carrots and plenty of ground black pepper in the "soup"; it will vastly improve the flavor, tighten up the sauce and the carrots make a great garnish. gut yuntif!!

      1. If you cook the jarred stuff in some chicken soup broth w/ onions, carrots, celery (even some powder if you want), and a little bit of sugar, for maybe an hour, it's makes all the difference in the world.

But yeah, Seattle is definitely not the place to find any decent delicacies... I guess it's just an opportunity to make them yourself...

        1. I hear that On Safari makes and sells them for Passover. You might want to give them a try.
