Torihei is one of my most frequented restaurant in LA.... to me it is hands down the best izakaya serving yakitori and oden in the LA area... reservation is a must for this place or else you will find yourself standing by the door and drooling at every dish that pass you but served to people that have reservations... the pics thats in the below link show the dishes that I usually get every single time.... enjoy

    Thanks for another great review! I go to Torihei pretty regularly, but your review still included a few things I've never tried, such as the house made fried garlic chili...I'm excited to try some of your favs on my next visit.

      was just there last night myself and that house made fried garlic chili just rocks... there are 3 ways for that... in my picture i've shown the cabbage and the rice w/raw egg... the 3rd way is with cucumber

      Very last-minute, but I'll be going there for dinner tonight. Any must-haves? Anyone that's been there... feel free to chime in!

        Cucumber tomato salad, soft boiled egg with salmon roe (bigtime), yakitori every part of the chicken especially the heart and gizzard, chicken rice and soup. Soup is amazing. Good prices on the kubota manju sake.

          Checked this while I was there, and got the soft boiled egg oden. It was awesome. Not sure what beats that at $1.95. They didn't have the heart, gizzard, and skin. I actually only had a mediocre time there. The other skewers and oden were good, but I was not too into the squid, chicken w/ tartar sauce, and the rice ball.

            Should have tried the minced chicken over rice with a side of that ridiculously rich and flavorful soup.

              I actually wasn't sure which thing that was on the menu. i wasn't sure if it was chicken rice, and soup, or chicken rice and soup (together). i ended up asking the waitress which one was chicken and rice, and she pointed at a couple of items. i ended up not getting any of them. mistake.
