Great eats in Carmel & around

danielle Mar 9, 2011 08:51 AM

I'm taking my parents (coming in from the NYC area) to Carmel for the day on Saturday. Planning on doing a bit of driving around the area during the day, grabbing a casual lunch, and then going in to Carmel for a delicious dinner in the evening. Do you have lunch or dinner favorites there? We're 4 adults who love good food and will eat just about anything (my mom doesn't like Mexican, but that's the only restriction). Prefer casual atmosphere with great food. What's the yummiest place around?

Thanks for your help!

Great advice here....I'd add Aubergine in Auberge Carmel.

Demetra Cafe on Ocean Ave. is fantastic! Very casual with awesome food. We also love Casanova, they have a nice outdoor patio area there. We recently dined at PortaBella on Ocean Ave. The inside dining room is very charming and the food is very, very good. :)

Dinner at Passionfish is one of the best restaurants for seafood and the prices are reasonable as well..great wine list for just over cost.

            My Carmel favorites are:

Cantinetta Luca - great Italianj, love their breadsticks
Demetra Cafe - Greek, Mediterranean--very casual, friendly service
            Bouchee Bistro - French
Casanova - just about the cutest, most quaint restaurant I've ever been to.

            Cantinetta Luca
