Salt Tears, Boise

enbell Mar 7, 2011 06:13 PM

The owners of Milky Way opened a new place a while back. It has been on my list of places to try, but I am failing at that list lately! I thought I'd but it out there for anyone else, in case you happen to be in the area. If it makes it on your list, I hope you do better at getting to it than I have.

Added question, has anyone been to Barbacoa since the reopening?

I haven't been to Barbocoa but have been to Salt Tears for lunch an dinner. If you miss the Milky Way's Shrimp bites...good news...they are back. Nice sandwiches, soups, cookies, and appetizers. You will enjoy!

I'm debating between Barbacoa and Chandler's for dinner the Saturday before Easter. I'm not worried about one over the other - just simply can't decide (and my visiting parents are no help either). Thanks for the tip on Salt Tears, I will have to try harder on my "to do" list!

If you go to Barbacoa please post. I generally stay in the North end or downtown so I haven't ventured over to Barbacoa. Interesting brew ha ha over the Guy Hand review and Barbacoa's response. I am not a huge fan of steak houses...even when the quality is excellent.. I often find the food boring. Their menu seems to have many more options. Chandlers is very nice and the bar is excellent. Good luck with your decision...doubt you will have a bad meal.

I went to Barbacoa in March. I just saw this now. It was better than I'd remembered it from before, and still as expensive. The quality of the food, if not the same, has increased. The variety and uniqueness of the dishes is still incredible. The ambiance has certainly gotten only more spectacular also. Obviously I can't afford to go there often, but I will go again for a special occasion. I wish it were more often.

Pretty much any of the steak is incredible. We had gotten some free food, too due to some long wait, even with reservations, so keep that in mind. Now I wish I could remember everything we had. I tried my family's other dishes, and all were different, and each was outstanding. Of course, we always have to order the made to order guac.

          Hope this helps!

After all of that, we went to Fork. I'm waiting until one more visit this weekend before I post my impressions. As for Barbacoa, sounds like I need to head over there - thanks for the tip!
