JENAerGlas and borosilicate
Cleaning out a high cabinet in my kitchen, I came across four JENAerGlas bowls (1 1/2 cup capacity to the brim) and a covered borosilicate pot in the shape of a Boston Baked Bean pot. I bought them years ago because I figured you could use them in the microwave and stove ovens. I did an online search and found out the bowls were made in Jena, Germany. There are no markings on the bean pot. Now that I have re-discovered them, I will get them back into circulation. Does anyone know of these items and their background? Thanks.

Hi. I have a set of four nesting Jenaer bowls with a lip (the largest capacity would be about 2 cups). Last night I broke one which I used all the time to mix salad dressing. A friend in New England gave them to me as a gift about 10 years ago--I live in Philadelphia. Any idea of where to find a replacement (other than to watch on ebay)? I am going to email Jenaer in Germany to see if they can recommend a source.

Jenaer does make some cool stuff, when you can find it. I have a tall, somewhat narrow glass measuring cup/beaker made by them that I use all the time to heat and froth my coffee milk in. I really love that thing & I'd be so bummed if something happened to it. I paid about $3 for it, but I've never seen another one. (I'd buy it if I did & keep it as a back up.)

Hi roddy407,
You and I must be having the same luck...I broke the large bowl of that set last night. I'm soooo
mad! I use it to weigh and then heat my dog's food. It was so light that it was easy to judge the
added oz. to the correct amount. The searching that I have done is that Jenaer Glas is now Trendglas. Apparently they were making stuff for Jenaer. I found bowls on their website, can't tell
if they have the lip and of course they describe the volume in Liters. Also, they are not in a set.
The price is, I think, in Euros, so there is no telling how much they are or how to get them. I'm pretty unhappy.-

Hi: I contacted ZWIESEL KRISTALLGLAS--they bought Jenaer Glas in 2005. I received a very prompt response to my question. Unfortunately, they did not carry over all their products, including these small-lipped mixing bowls; rather they introduced a new line of products after the acquisition. If I come across a set of these bowls, I will let you know.

re: roddy407
Been looking for these for years since I, like everyone else here, have broken the largest bowl. Someone was selling them on Etsy but alas, one of you got the set. I noticed that Jenaer Glas is still a brand name, albeit run by the Zweisel Kristallglas company. They have re-released the set with what looks like some minor changes: http://www.zwieselkristallglas-shop.c.... I wonder if these are also borosilicate glass? They sort of look like it but the bottom of the bowls look thicker. Not yet for sale on the website.
