Looking for the best Chilidog
I love chili dogs almost as much as I love my kids and more then I love my wife. I'm always on the search for a good dog. So far my luck hasn't been good. Maybe I'm spoiled from my youth eating at Twin Kiss in Newport (closed for 30+ yrs) and now the Patio on Market St in Wilmington.
I want a dog with a meaty chili, not a watery sauce that barely covers the dog. Onions that you can taste and mustard with a nice spicy flavor. Is that too much to ask. I tried Yelp reviews with no luck. I tried from Diner Drive in and Dives places with no luck. So I'm putting my faith in the Hounds to help me out. Can a brother get a good chilidog.
I'm in Delaware but I also travel to New England and Hampton Roads often and I have an aversion to calling dogs weiners, thats just so wrong to me.

I used to work for Buck who owned the Twin Kiss in Newport DE . That was back in the early 70's and I made the chili . Billy Micheals who owned the Dairy Queen in Stanton at the same time had the same chili recipe . I LOVE a good chili dog some of the best are Pinks in LA and a place in Daytona Beach on the boardwalk . I have been thinking about opening a small chili dog stand in Rehoboth Beach DE , summer of 2012 !

What about Jimmy John's on 202 near West Chester PA? They have re-opened since their fire a while back...

re: jks19714
Best thing about Jimmy Johns is that they 1) make their own hot dogs. 2) Have a fixings bar so you control the amount of mustard, and onions you put on your dog. 3) The train sets.. watching the little kids awe at the model trains makes the dogs taste better.. REALLY.
Note.. I love Jimmy Johns but I have never ordered a chili dog there, so I don't know if it would be up to the standards the OP wanted. But it is in your backyard... so its worth a trip up 202.

If you are ever in Charlottesville, Virginia, I would recommend the Jack 'N Jill restaurant on east high street....they serve a delicious foot long dog....get it "all the way." Been around since the early 60's. Similar to Jess's Lunch in Harrisonburg, which I always stop at when I am in Harrisonburg..
