Pan Fried Chicken Buns at Imperial Seafood in Concord

I'm always looking for different items, so when I was at Imperial Seafood in Concord I quickly jumped on the pan fried chicken buns, which I had never encountered before. These buns were similar in concept to Shanghainese sheng jian bao, except they were much much bigger, and, obviously, filled with chicken, and really good. I was extremely pleased with this discovery. That evening I was at SFO waiting for my flight back home when I strolled by the Fung Lum counter when I saw on display pan fried chicken buns. Huh? Never saw them anywhere before, and now twice in one day? A subsequent Internet search shows the same item at Yank Sing as well as Tai Pan in Palo Alto. Is this some kind of Bay Area specialty? Anybody seen them anywhere else?

  1. What else did you have/like at Imperial Seafood? Have been near there a number of times, but haven't tried it.

Had the beef cheung fun which was pretty good and the stuffed peppers which was very very good. Was by myself so that's all I could eat. For the geographic area you probably couldn't ask for more. On an absolute scale, better than SF Chinatown, but not in the same class as the places on the Peninsula, Milpitas etc.
