Beneigts

We went to Central last night and besides the great bread and lobster burger they had an "only during Mardi Gras" dessert of Beneigts. There were 6 in a serving. made to order, with powdered sugar, and a side of lemon curd. Very tasty and enough for two. They made a pretty nice hurricane too.

of course, my personal philosophy is that beignets are one of those foods that should only be eaten naked. That way the powdered sugar that gets everywhere isn't really wasted.

essentially square donuts. Best known, to my knowledge and experience, as a New Orleans specialty of Cafe du Monde.

Bonjour you-all. Beignets are French that came along to NO, and there are many types. With all due respect, the best in the city are at Morning Call. And eat them naked (without suger)? Who dat?
