suggestions for a large group?

Paula from Toronto Mar 6, 2011 07:48 AM

Hello DC'ers:

I'll be in town in a few weeks, and have been asked to arrange a dinner for approx. 18 people. All are fairly adventurous and open where food is concerned. Any suggestions for a decent meal for a group that size?? We'll be staying in the Capitol Hill area, and would like to stay in the DC area.

Hi Paula, would really help to know price range (with or without alcohol?), and night of the week.

We're meeting on a Thursday, and we're looking at approx. $55 without alcohol.

Still staying up on the Hill is Cava over in the Eastern Market area. I think they have a large upstairs area that can probably fit a group that size. Mezze small plates....fun atmosphere...good food.

Otherwise you might want to head over to Acadiana for some New Orleans-style cuisine. They do well with large groups and have awesome food. If you are coming anytime soon they might have some Mardi Gras specialties.

A few other places to consider Firefly (they have a private room that would be good for your group), Dino, Central, and Masa 14.

Either way I would call ASAP to make sure there are reservations available for a group that size.
