Is there anywhere in Woodbridge worth eating that isn't a chain?

We recently moved here and all we seem to find are chain restaurants. Does anyone know of any really good local restaurants worth mentioning?

  1. I'll offer up Dixie Bones. I've only been once and it was good (I don't live near there). This is all with the undertone statement that there really isn't much good BBQ to speak of in the whole metro area AND that talking BBQ is like talking pizza and is certain to invite a flame war.

But, if you're new to the area, you should check it out.

I love Dixie Bones. I'm no cue expert, but I enjoy thier ribs, collards, beans and mac n cheese. The place has great kitsch!

        Another good one to add:

One of my favorite special occasion restaurants is Bistro L'Hermitage in Occoquan. It's probably the only restaurant in that area that I'd go down there, specifically, for a meal.

      2. I really like Astoria Pizza Restaurant. Not high-end Italian or high-end anything, but a throwback to the 1970s Italian-American pizzerias you used to hang out in after school. Thin crust pizzas, gyros. Dark wood panelling. It's like time was frozen in 1975. Good simple food.

        1. We've had pretty good meals at Mateo's in Montclair, just past Woodbridge
