lunch somewhere between far w 47th and central park south on a friday

mick Mar 5, 2011 06:08 PM

Getting off circle line tour at 1:00pm and heading over to central park to wander around. Two couples, the friday before easter. Looking for a casual, fun maybe new york experience not too expensive to spend and hour and half or so glass or two of wine then go thru central park. Will be hungry so can be anywhere in between or near park. Sorry about broadness of question

It would be helpful if you told us more specifically what "not too expensive" means to *you*,i.e., per person budget for food only (wine, tax & tip additional). That said....

    Perhaps, Nougatine?

    Bar Boulud?

$20-25pp max (w/o wine, tax and tip) On a previous trip had lunch at Bar Bouloud so want to try somewhere else. Will check Nougatine website. Have not explored upper west side much anything else around there with easy walk into park and eventually ending up at central park south before heading back to hotel?

Ed's Chowder House might work for you. First-rate fish 'n' chips.

There's also the Atlantic Grill's Westside location. We've not been but my brother and his wife ate there a few months ago and said the food's good. You'd have to check the menu on the website to see if the price point fits your budget.
