Las Vegas with some dietary restrictions

Friend is going to Vegas. He's kosher but is okay about eating in non-kosher restaurants, as long as he can avoid meat anything (including stock) and shellfish. So he's looking for great, high-end places where there are vegetarian (and even fish, as long as it's not shellfish) options and special requests are okay. tia

Thank you both for your responses.

Eric, he's staying on the Strip without a car, so he wants to stay in that area. He'll be at the Mandarin Oriental. I know he'd prefer to stay away from Asian food. I told him what you said. I also think that, at high end restaurants, it's usually easy to have restrictions, because there are usually options and they're often open to working with diner's requests if it doesn't compromise the dish.

Josephnl, I appreciate your suggestions and will pass them to him. I'd heard of Scarpetta and had been planning on suggesting Bouchon, as well. I'll look up the others.

    Thanks so much!

I have gone to LV many times with someone who has precisely the same restrictions, and there has never been a problem. Indeed, I took him to Alize at The Palms where he had a wonderful salad, and then their absolutely incredible Dover sole Veronique. The last time there wat ate at Rosemary's where there were great vegetarian options as well as fish, and Bouchon where he loved the trout which I think is a standard there. Also, any Italian restaurant should be able to do a vegetarian pasta...I love the Scarpetta in LA, I'd bet that the one in LV would also be very good.

There are a lot of options;. Need some more information: Will he have a car? What types of cuisine does he like (French, Mexican, etc.), budget, where is he staying and is he looking to stay on the Strip. There arte a few kosher restaurants in Las Vegas but they are off of the Strip. One option is Asian. There are a lot of Asian restuarants on Spring Mountain Road. A lot of the restaurants on the Strip that serve vegitarian and/or seafood. One thing he or you may want to do is to check out the hotel websites and go to the dining dection. A lot of the restaurants have thier menus posted on the web.
