Elegant food favor for a Communion Party?

Hey Hounds :)

So the Chowpup is making his First Holy Communion in May and we have picked out a lovely food-centric venue and gotten all of the details just so.

I was thinking as a favor to go to Black Hound and get those little Shaker boxes filled with Jam Heart cookies or to Levain for those stupendous chocolate chips to be given away with glass jars of icy cold Ronnybrook milk...

Then I thought, "Hey! I am a Queens girl. Let me support a local place."

Idea one is four macarons from Cannelle in clear little boxes wrapped in silk ribbon. Jean-Claude is a doll and I love his confections.

I'd like more options to consider.

Any other ideas?

All Things Delish,
lisa

The only possibility we could think of in Queens suitable for party favors, are the chocolate covered butter cookies at “Stork’s” bakery in Beechhurst, which we would assume are not as good as the Black Hound cookies both in presentation and taste, but Stork’s cookies would also be much easier on the pocketbook, although we understand that this may not be an issue, however Stork’s is indeed in Queens if you wish to be true to your Queens’ roots. (LOL)

One of my family members can knock off a pound of Stork’s butter cookies by themselves at one sitting.

However, you cannot go wrong with your own choice of “4 macarons from Cannelle.”

Cannelle’s “Madeleine” cookies are not bad also.

Happy Year of the Rabbit to the Zenfoodist family!

Our favorites are all the dark chocolate-cased butter cookies: the leaves, the round circles with the thinly sliced almonds atop, the triangles with the chopped nuts and the gorgeous little jam hearts....Love them.
The present owners are a NIGHTMARE to deal with.

      Gung Hat Fat Choy!

Is there a Jacques Torres in Queens? Went to a wedding at the River Cafe and they gave out a 4 piece box of Jacques Torres chocolates at the end of the wedding as a favor. Great way to end a fabulous affair.

We are big fans of Jacques Torres. He is in Brooklyn and Manhattan though...
