Milsa Poisson
Has anyone been? Everytime I pass by th ere, it is always empty.....and I pass by it every thursday night around 7, not a soul in sight. I've enjoyed a meal at milsa before, and thus am curious about this fish/seafood version. But if no patrons, how fresh can their seafood be if no turnover?

Well, I went to Milsa Poisson so none of you have to. Yes, that's right, I took one for the team, folks.
30 bucks gets you unlimited fish, salad, and seafood paella, plus pineapple or ice cream, and coffee or tea for dessert. There is no lobster bisque, unlike what the website says. There is also no broiled lobster or prawn option, so the site is evidently out of date. If you are with meat-lovers, they do serve the all-you-can-eat meat option here as well as at the original location a few doors down.
What was good: codcakes (baccalao), fried calamari, whole grilled red mullet, jumbo shrimps in a tomatoey sauce, grilled pineapple for dessert, shaved off long spits. When I asked for more codcakes, they apologized, saying it was a test item and not part of the all-you-can eat deal. Too bad because it was probably my favourite item.
What was OK: fried smelts, filet of salmon with dill cream sauce, tilapia filet with rosé sauce (an odd combination). My hubby said the musssels were OK. The salad is nice, a basic mesclun mix with a few cucumbers and tomatoes thrown in, along with shredded carrots and cabbage, but it is very fresh and the creamy dressing, served on the side, can be added to taste - an unusual touch. The rice is pretty standard restaurant rice with bits of calamari, mussels, scallops, shrimps and other seafood thrown in.
What was not good: sole amandine (mushy).
The fish seemed freshly cooked, the problem was most of it just didn't have much flavour. We had been hoping to see a lot of flavourful char-grilled stuff, like the meat had been next door.
The service was great, attentive and genuinely friendly.
For $91 including tax, one glass of red wine, and one Perrier, it was plainly not worth it, and we will not be back.
Poissonerie Rayan on Cote-des-Neiges remains our go-to fish restaurant for now.

It's no surprise that you found the fish bland if one of their main items is Tilapia. Apart from its appeal to the low cal brigade, this is one of the most useless and tasteless fish out there. It's literally the chicken of the sea.... and less. Salmon? I love salmon, but it's so common I prefer to make it myself. Oh how I long for a seafood resto that veers off the common (and safe) path. How about one that serves grilled octopus as a main course, not an entree? Oh, I forgot, that would be Poissonerie Ryan.

Has anyone been here yet? Any reports? I had a good salmon at the meat-centric Milsa next door.

A friend recommended me the place, so I took my wife last tuesday. We arrived at 7:30 and the place was empty, and I mean no table was occupied. Since it is the turnstile system, I wonder if with no people at the restaurant we would end up eating left overs.
We decided to go to Ferrari instead, an underrated restaurant that always delivers.
