azul (argentinian steakhouse) = very disappionting
i like argentinian style asado steaks. there's buenos aires in EV which i think is pretty good. the meat has flavor. you don't go to argentinian style place for charredness. it's all about flavor of the meat, to my mind. someone recommended azul to us and say it's better. we were sorely disappointed. judging by this one visit, we cannot disagree more. the service and the ambience may be better. but the meat completely lacked flavor. it was a monday night. and we did order the "mixed grill" set which may be not the right thing to do. but the thing included skirt steak in it, and if even the skirt steak doesn't have much flavor, i think i can forget about the place entirely. the lamb chop was ok. everything else was subpar. such a pity.

The Mixed Grill at Azul along with the a couple bottles of wine used to be one of my favorite meals in the city. However, in the last year, their prices have gone up and their quality down. I haven't been since the chef changes though- so maybe its gotten better? I know this isn't Argentinean necessarily but I had the Mixed Grill at Les Halles Park Avenue recently and it was delicious and a great value for $52/two people (I was so surprised by how good it was!). It was a little heavy on sausage but I welcomed the addition of grilled bacon on there. And, its served like the Azul mixed grill on the sizzling hot grill in front of you...Just a tip...

I hated, hated, hated Azul. I tried them a few times and it just seemed to get worse each time I went. Meat was all overcooked (and then put on sizzling plates, which just made things worse) and generally flavorless. The room was so dark the last time I went I could barely read the menu, and cold too!
But that said, I haven't been since the new team took over - I'd LIKE them to be good, since they're in my neighborhood and want to see good restaurants thrive. Still unsure if I'm game to give them another whirl though.
