Am looking forward to trying Kingyo in a future trip to Vancouver. I can't locate a website for this restaurant. Do they take reservations? What are their hours? Thanks!

  1. Their website looks dead. They are open for lunch but I dont think they serve izakata food then. Best to go in the evening. Kingyo isn't a pure or traditional izakaya. More of a "modern Japanese" place if you know what I mean. They have some nice raw dishes as well as japatapas. I was there just recently (a couple of weeks ago). Still as good as ever.

PAO - it's best to call: (604) 608-1677. I have made reservations for lunch in the past, but only walked in for dinner.

PAO, another nearby option is Gyoza King on Robson Street:

        I love their karaage !

      2. I ate there this week with a dinner reso. I recommend making one if you want a table. If you're ok sitting @ the bar, then you'd likely be fine.

        1. I love their $16 (maybe $18?) lunch set. It's awesome! Twelve delicious items. The most decadent value you'll have in a downtown japanese restaurant for lunch!

That lunch set looks so good. I've always meant to go try it but haven't had the chance. Do you know if they serve it on weekends as well?

I've had that bento box on a weekend.

          2. kingyo is my FAVOURITE izakaya the quality I find is above and beyond the guu's and gyoza king. My favourite things to eat are (and I have eaten everything several times over) scallop carpaccio, the sizzling beef tongue...negitoro sushi is amazing, tako wasabi and calamari.

Thanks to everyone. We had a fabulous dinner there with duck sukiyaki, bibimbap, ramen salad, and avocado/yellowtail carpaccio. Wish there was something as good in Seattle.
