Nina's Peanut Butter Pie??

OK... this is going WAY back to about 1968-71ish... Anyone remember Nina's, HOme of the Peanut Butter Pie on PCH in Laguna Beach? It's been long gone, but I'm wondering if any of you know of a "close" pie. Do tell.

  1. I never had Nina's Peanut Butter Pie. Last month my son bought a Peanut Butter Pie with a chocolate crust at Marie Callendre’s for our “pickle Hunt visit” and it disappeared fast once we began eating. I went to Marie Callender’s tonight and was told that the Peanut Butter Pie was “The Pie of The Month” for December. The Arcadia MC had none left but told me to call other locations because they may still have a case in the freezer. I am sure it is not like Nina’s but it was good. If you find anyplace that has one please post it.

    1. I grew up in Laguna, but don't remember Nina's. Where was it in South Laguna?
You can find a homemade Peanut Butter pie at Pie and Burger on Lake in Pasadena.
Call first to make sure, they rotate flavors. It is a pastry crust, peanut butter pudding, and merengue top. but they will remove the merengue and serve with whipped cream if you prefer.

      1. Yes, Nina baked nine pies a day and the Peanut Butter Pie was the best on earth! A trek to Laguna Beach and pie at Nina's small cafe was a special treat. Still have not found any pie close to Nina's!

Nina's was on Highway 1 near the spot where the "Waver Man" stood and greeted Laguna visitors as they drove past on the eat side of the street. Another clue is it was across the street from Taco Bell close to the stairway down to the beach. As far as I know, Nina never sold her recipe.

Used to love to come here...drove all the way from West Covina for a slice of peanut butter pie and a hug from Nina's Mom. Say Sechlerart, is your first name Bill? Does the name Gregg Atwood ring a bell?
