Any beginning cake decorating class(es) in or near east county SanDiego?

Can anyone tell me where there is a beginning class in cake decorating in or near east country San Diego ? If there are none now, does anyone know of any coming up? Thanks in advance Jannet

    Try the Michael's craft stores. I took 2 of 3 Wilton sponsored classes at the Poway store a few years ago and learned much more than I did at the more expensive Great News cooking school course.

      Thanks for the info and suggestion! Michael's sounds like a good place for me to begin! There's one in Santee that is close to me, so I'll give them a call and see when their next beginner class is... Thanks again, Jannet

      Michaels is definitely the cheapest with their wilton classes, but you also have roz's sweet arts studio up near escondido and amy malone's school of decorating in la mesa for something a little more advanced.

          Check Grossmont College. The Chef who mainly handles Pastry is James Foran, who is a baaaad @$$.

            I really like DIWI but there is often a long wait list for their beginning class. Amy Malone in La Mesa also has classes that are good. She holds them in her spacious home and has a kitchen for demos.

            Cake Decorating for Beginners
            June 7 – July 12, Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon or
            June 7 – July 12, Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
            See January 11 class description.

            I've taken classes at both DIWI and Amy Malone, and once a Wilton class. Will not take a Wilton class ever again. The instructors are not allowed to really stray from the Wilton materials, and aren't allowed to promote anything that Wilton does not sell. (Like having to trim fondant with an angled spatula instead of a knife since Wilton does not sell knives).
