Staying 1 night in Plantation need some help

I will be staying in Plantation for one night later this month. Need somewhere for dinner that night, and breakfast/lunch next morning. Looking for something local and authentic and maybe on the cheaper side. Maybe something ethnic (Cuban, Peruvian, Haitian, Italian, Mexican, etc). Would prefer to stay closer to the hotel that night (Renaissance Plantation), but would be willing to head as far as Miami the next morning. I was thinking about Versailles for breakfast/lunch. Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks.

  1. For Cuban, there's Padrino's in the Fountains Shopping Plaza or Las Vegas on Broward Blvd. just East of University. IMO, Padrino's has better service but Las Vegas is more authentic, both are very good. Azteca is a Mexican place just south of your hotel in the shopping center on the SW side of I-595 & Pine Island. Vigneto's is a great Italian place, though a little hard to find on University Dr. just north of I-595 on the West side in the plaza by the McDonald's. The only Peruvian place I know of that's nearby is Gran Chimu 5941 S. University Dr. in Davie.

    Las Vegas Restaurant
112 Giralda Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134

    Gran Chimu
    5941 S University Dr, Davie, FL 33328

    Padrino's Restaurant
2500 E Hallandale Beach Blvd Ste I, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009

    1. I am local Plantation resident for 25 yrs. Not a food Mecca, but try Josephs italian restaurant on Broward and 96. Northern Italian husband and wife restaurant and great food and service. Do not expect pizza or all you can eat pasta & salad.
Mustard Seed is a nice cozy bistro on University across from Broward Mall. Skip Cuban if you don't want to go to Miami. Treat yourself to a Colombian breakfast at "balcon de las Americas" on sunrise just east of Flamingo. Hot chocolate with melted cheese inside and Colombian arepas. Colombians outnumber all you other choices in the food scene in plantation, except maybe for the Italian restaurants

Thanks for the tip on Balcon. I'm intrigued. I live in Plantation, too.
