Mid-range midtown restaurant suggestion for semi-formal dinner

Hi,

I would like to dine with 2 other people in a semi-formal (i.e. no more formal than Telepan/ Nougatine), spend about $45-50 a person without alcohol, in a restaurant that serves good food and is close to midtown west (i.e the location of places such as Telepan and Nougatine are fine, Perry Street is probably not). I cannot think of such places - either way more casual places come to mind, or the Telepan / Nougatine range (which is slightly pricier), and would appreciate suggestions on this.

I should add that the location is not a binding constraint, so please let me know if you think that I should just travel to Perry Street or some such place that offers good value (through their pre fixe). Union Square area is also ok.

Related question - Are there any interesting dinner pre-fixe promotions (similar price) at present, that anyone would care to recommend?

Thanks.

    1. In Midtown:

      Oceana serves a 3-course pre- and post-theater prix-fixe for $49.

      dbBistro Moderne serves a 3-course pre-theater (5 to 6:60 p.m) prix-fixe for $45.

      1. Bar Boulud's pre-theater prix fixe is $42.

Picholine also has a great bar menu. The prix fixe for three savory courses is $42, and dessert is an additional $10.

        1. Thank you all.
I should have mentioned that it is likely that most of us can get out of work only at about 6:45-7 pm at the earliest, so pre-theater may not be an option. Also, $50 (flexible) included tip / tax.

You might want to take advantage of Village Vines (www.villagevines.com) - Seasonal is being offered at a 30% discount; DB Bistro at 20%. Discounts are generally applied discreetly to your bill. Bookings must be made through VV.
