Westhampton Area
Is there any place good opened this time of year that isn't a total ripoff? Quogue, East Quogue, Hampton Bays or somewhere thereabouts.

What kind of food are you looking for?
I am not a big fan of Westhampton Restaurants. There is a nice hole in the wall Mexican place called Funcho's that we like.
A gourmet pizza place called Brunetti opened but it was a disappointment. Soggy crust and very expensive.
We head over to Hampton Bays:
Matsulin has excellent Asian fusion cuisine.
Villa Paul is an old favorite for Italian
Gator's for excellent bar/restaurant fare
Canal Cafe for a fabulous lobster roll and fresh fish.
Indian Cove for upscale seafood with a French flair
Or head up to Riverhead and the North Fork for fabulous food without the Westhampton chic "vibe".
A new place called Dark Horse just opened. Eclectic cuisine that will knock your socks off.
Lots more in Riverhead if youa re interested.

good luck with that its pricey stand alone building a little out of town ok food

I gave up on Southampton and W Hampton a long time ago. The main emphasis of the restaurants seems to be "trendy" and a place to "be seen" during the Summer tourist season. Generally good food but much too expensive for what it is.

Some standbys in Riverhead (off 58, which is dominated by corporations and largely on/near Main St., which has its mainstays but is evolving"):
Snowflake, Funchos (WHB location as well), Buoy One (within spitting distance of each other)
Farm Country Kitchen
Haven't been in years : Star Confectionery, Spicy's
Still hafta try : Dark Horse
(All of these are within walking distance, if that's something you're into)
A bit of a trip but not far : Briermere Farms, Grana

I live and work in the Riverhead area and do my best to support the local restaurants:
On Main St
Dark Horse is fabulous! Great atmosphere and very creative menu. Fresh local fish.
Tweeds specializes in Bison and local seafood.
Athens Grill has top quality Greek food.
Haiku Sushi is very good but the service is a little spotty.
The Rendesvous serves excellent marinated steaks at reasonable prices.
Buoy 1 on W Main for terrific fresh local seafood. They are opening another place in W Hampton.
Funcho's on W Main St for very good creative Tex-Mex. Also in W Hampton Beach.
Farm Country Kitchen has excellent unusual dishes in a nice casual riverside setting
Cooperage Inn on Sound Ave just North of Riverhead is another favorite
Phil's Sports Bar in Wading River for good bar/restaurant comfort fare.

Ah, the rendezvous (or the "vous" as its called in my house) = One of my favorite places around. Great burgers.

Same in our home. Back in the day when Cliff owned all 4 Vous/Elbow places we'd start at the "vous" and if it was busy head to The Elbow Room then to Elbow 2 and finally but not often to Elbow East. Sadly, Cliff is gone.
