best lamb dish?

It's my bf's birthday this weekend and he LOVES him some lamb. Can anyone recommend a great lamb dish at a $$$ but not $$$$ restaurant in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville?

Thanks all!

Rack of lamb (or Saturday baby lamb special) at Scampo. For something cheaper, the cumin lamb at New Shanghai.

Well it's defintiely not fancy, but the lamb tips at Santarpio's are one of my faves. I sometimes get two orders of tips and no pizza. And it may be more $$$ than $$, but the lamb dishes at Oleana are always top-notch.

The rack of lamb at Helmand in Cambridge. For starters, share an order of aushak and an order of banjan. Heaven! http://www.helmandrestaurant.com/dinn...

Any lamb dish from Helmand is great. But I'd replace the aushak with the kaddo.

I know a lot of people like the kaddo but it's just too sweet for me while the aushak hits such lovely savory notes.... But good that you mentioned it, the OP's tastes may mirror yours rather than mine!

I agree with you Gretchen - i found the pumpkin appetizer to be too sweet. And yes, that rack of lamb is delish.
I've also enjoyed Spring Lamb Sauteéd & Cooked in Fresh Tomatoes & Wine at Desfina.

I think the Banjan is terrific as well. The pumpkin is much more reasonable with the meat sauce - somehow cuts through the sweetness. Though for some reason they don't always put the meat sauce on (make sure to ask for it).
I love the Qabelee lamb entree, but it's more of the falling-apart-in-your-mouth sweet and savery type dish, rather than a rack of lamb.
