I have a $50 gift card for these places that I won't be able to use before they close. If anyone wants it, and can come get it (I'm in Richmond), it's yours. Email jamesmum@yahoo.com

Is Feenie still with Cactus Club?
Lumiere used to be one amazing, amazing restaurant. We used to live a couple of blocks from there and used to walk down and eat there all the time. We'd eat at the bar. Back in the day when it was one of the first places we saw on the west coast that was doing artisanal cocktails. They made a mean Sazerac.
And every once in a while we'd do Feenie's caviar flight. Amazing.
Never went back after he left.-----

re: mendogurl
Sometimes I wonder if there are any establishments in GVRD that have been able to consistently maintain a gold-standard of quality for years on end, if not decades. Perhaps Le Gavroche and The William Tell ?

re: waver
I thought the neighbourhood well supported Feenie's when it was around. I remember it always being busy. DB is really great food but the price point was higher... which made it less of a casual neighbourhood place. I would love to see a place like Feenie's go back in there. Fingers crossed it won't be CC!

I'm not surprised to hear it but it is a bit sad (only because my husband proposed after our first dinner at Lumiere when Feenie was at the helm). Lumiere, West, and C used to be the places everyone wanted to dine at, especially for special occasions. But all 3 of these restaurants only catered to people spending exorbitant amounts of cash. I don't think Lumiere ever recovered Feenie's exit and the recession because of all the great new places that opened up that were much more reasonable in price for quality ingredients and service. This should serve as a wake up call to some of these other establishments that are still coasting on their old reputations.....
