Do I need a food processor if I have a Vitamix?

I am the proud owner of a brand new Vitamix blender. I had to sell some gold jewelry to afford it but IT WAS SO WORTH IT! Anyway, I put away my Cuisinart food processor to make room for the Vitamix because I know I will use it everyday. My question is: Is there any reason to hang onto the Cuisinart? I can't think of anything I use my food processor for that the Vitamix won't be able to accomplish...

  1. One's a blender and the other is a food processor. If all you did with your food processor was chop and puree, then they're interchangeable. But the Vitamix can't slice or julienne vegetables, grate cheese or mix dough, so they're decidedly different.

      1. WOW! I bought my Vitamix a year before my food processor... but IMHO I make smooties 1-3x a day and strictly use the vitamix for that purpose. I have had my magimix less than a week and can attest to needing it equally. dice tomatoes for salads, chop veges for dinner prep, slice thin strips of onions without crying, scallop potatoes, shredding lettuce, slicing or grating cheese, making dough, slice perfect cucumbers, chopping omelet ingredients then whisking eggs in same container. If I were you, I'd try to squeeze both on the counter(take container off vitamix and slide under cabinets)... if you don't have prep area, get a portable kitchen island that you can roll out of the way. Your processor won't get half as much use if its too hard to get out and use.
