how to serve spaghetti/meatballs

I am serving spaghetti and meatballs for a dinner and was wondering if I should mix up the spaghetti with the sauce and meatballs? Or, should I let people put the meatballs and sauce onto their own spaghetti? I was thinking this could be quite messy.

    1. Finish the spaghetti in some sauce when al dente to get the sauce absorbed. I think serving the meatballs atop the spaghetti looks really "wow", especially if you make it "snow" Parmesan or Pecorino all over the top in front of your guests. Pass more sauce at the table and do not drown the pasta!
Spaghetti can get a little messy, and I often serve large rigatoni vs. noodles so the staining of clothing is kept to a minimum, but whatever your preference is will work.

      1. Partially sauce the pasta with a bowl of sauce with a ladle on the side. Allow people to choose the amount of meatballs that they want.

        1. The Italian side of my family traditionally serves the meatballs on the side, so if tradition matters to you, I would serve it that way.
Like others have said, definitely finish the pasta in some sauce. After that my mom always served everything else on the side with ladle/spoon.
