SC Barbecue near Charlotte

Any good places just over the border, say in Rock Hill or Fort Mill? I think I'm ready to try some.

Lots of folks rave about 521 BBQ in Fort Mill, SC. I have eaten there and enjoyed but do not consider myself a Carolina BBQ expert. The subtlety is lost on a lout like me. I get fired up for Texas style BBQ. Beef with lots of smoke flavor is more to my liking.

I've been to 521 and was not that impressed. If by SC BBQ you mean mustard based, you'll have to go further south. If you are ever near Holly Hill, SWEATMAN'S!!!!!!!!!

Burk's Barbecue on Cherry Rd.in Rock Hill offers mustard-based SC sauce or a red sauce.

If you have a little time on your hands you can go to Midway BBQ in Union, SC. Been around a long time and they offer a tomato based bbq as well as mustard based. They also have bbq hash and chicken stew. Fabulous!

I agree on Midway. It is sort of between Union and Buffalo. The atmosphere is definitely not for everyone, but it's great stuff.
