Angelicas in Sea Bright- New Feelings

  • 9

Seems that Frank is no longer at Angelicas. We were there this week and that warm, "at home" feeling that we got when Frank was there is gone. The food was ok as always, but now it seems that Angelicas becomes "just another Italian restaurant". Too bad!!

  1. We used to go there on a pretty regular basis but some of the tables were so close to each other, you literally could not have a conversation with your dining companion.
Always enjoyed the food but decided if we were going to be squashed into a restaurant, we would do it much closer to home :)

Do they still have those tables for two right on top of each other.

No there is room between tables.

    2. Sockster, couldn't agree with you more. Frank really made the restaurant. This seems to be the general consensus.

      1. This use to be one of our favorite places! We would go there on a regular basis and were treated great! Then, one day we arrived w/ no reservations (God forbid!) ...were were seated and then the waitress, can't remember her name (the one who wears the heavy makeup) kept coming to see what we wanted to order, almost every 2 minutes..we finally ordered and the food literaaly came out in 10 minutes! My husband's steak was ordered med and it came out rare, sent it back..my pasta w/eggplant was ok, not very hot.

Then, half way through our meal, the waitress came back and sais, "You don't want dessert, right?" Well, I guess not, so she left the check while we were still eating. I felt like we were at a diner on a Sunday morning. That was more than 3 years ago and we have not been back!

It was a horrible experience. We were basically in and out in about 45 minutes. From other friends ouf ours, we have heard this place has went downhill in the past few years.

        1. 3 words nearby: Bay Avenue Trattoria in Highlands.

            Um... that's 5 words.

          2. I have been to Angelica's several times this year and have loved it every single time! I guess I must have missed Frank, but I felt very at home and comfortable there. The service was amazing and friendly, and the food came out quickly, piping hot and delicious! This was on a night when it was packed and I was sure we'd have a wait for our food. I've had several different dishes there and really loved every one. It's my new favorite place! The servers and the hostess are unfailingly pleasant and polite and they really make you feel welcome. They do not rush you out the door when you're finished. Other restaurants in this area could learn a little something about customer service from this restaurant! Someone else mentioned Bay Avenue Trattoria and I agree they have great food and service, but I find it lacking in any type of atmosphere. which is important to me. If I'm going to spend a good deal of money eating out, then I like to enjoy the atmosphere as well as the food. Don't get me wrong, I certainly won't turn down a meal at the Bay Avenue Trattoria, but I do wish they would give it a little personality.

Supposedly, they just brought in a new manager who is supposed to be terrific. He is really upping the quality of the meat and fish and we have heard he is quite personable and knowledgeable. We shall see.

Very hard to compare BAT and Angelicas in the same sentence. Two different worlds when it comes to area restaurants.
