you could try the Westford Grille, in Westford. I have always had good food there, never had the prime rib but everything else was good. It casual, there is a large lounge area with a pool table or you can go into the dning room. I don't know lowell that well but there's gotta be a decent place there

If you want something really cheap/casual you could go to Tiny's Diner in Ayer. People seem to really enjoy the prime rib and fried seafood there.

i even thought that the prime rib was pretty good at Anthony's Pier 4; which had a great wine list to go along with it. I am not recommending it, but if they can do it; anyone can.

Thanks for the responses. I thought I would get a lot of feedback on this but either most people don't care for prime rib and the calories or can't recommend one place over another.

The place I like best for prime rib is the Mt. Vernon in Somerville. But it's not within your geographical boundaries so I didn't want to go totally off topic. Plus I really don't know Lowell and environs at all. I hope you find what you are looking for ... when the prime rib jones hits, you hafta ride it until you are satisfied. Believe me, I know.

also outside your radius, but morton's at the seaport does prime rib on friday and saturady only.
i don't think it's that we can't make a recommendation, but that it's no longer a popular cut and has fallen out of fashion. not many places offer it. a rib eye is practically the same cut and i much prefer it

The fact that you are essentially limiting yourself to options outside the 128 belt with your stated range limit probably accounts for the lack of responses. I don't think it has anything to do with calories.

I haven't been in a long time, but the Hilltop Steakhouse on Rt 1 in Saugus used to have great prime rib. Most of the other places I like for the dish are too far away ( Flemmings in Boston and Coach Grill in Wayland if your curious).
Hope this helps,
Melissa

Joseph's II on Main Street in Waltham had a sign out front advertising $10 prime rib dinners on Fridays and Saturdays. Sounds like a deal.
