Casa Oaxaca in Adams Morgan - Report
It's been there for years, yet with scant mention on Chowhound. Well, I'm here to tell you it's definitely worth thinking about when the subject of Mexican food comes up.
I tried two appetizers: enmoladas, which are tortillas soaked in a mole negro and kekas, a trio of small blue corn enchiladas each stuffed with huitlacoche, poblano pepper, or carnitas.
The mole negro was lick-the-plate clean delicious. A+, complex.
Every element of the kekas was well-crafted and good, though not as tasty as I'd like.
I will investigate further, as I am heartened by the attention to detail here. my major disappointment is to see so much chicken breast on the menu..... just skip the white meat and give me a pitcher of the sauce!

I am a big fan of Casa Oaxaca, but have thought it a tad overpriced for what it is. That said, we always get the Tres Moles. I agree the mole negro is the best of the three, but having all three is always a delight.
I also have really enjoyed the enchiladas with shrimp, goat cheese and the poblano cream sauce.
