Bittman's rant - "How to Make Oatmeal . . . Wrong"

  1. I like Bittman's suggestion about letting oatmeal (flakes) sit for a few minutes and then eat, if I have interpreted his words correctly. Isn't muesli just this, oatmeal along with other grains, etc. sitting with added liquid (milk) for a few minutes and then consumed.

    I love oatmeal and don't mind fixing it.
    Put a small amount of water in a pan on stove. Add some flakes, turn on stove to high, bring to a quick boil, turn off heat, stir and let sit till you eat or add it to other things, such as yogurt.
    That's all there is to it.

    However, recently I ordered Bob's Red Mill Scottish oatmeal. It's oatmeal of my childhood.
